Black katan silk with a heavy silver-and-red kadhwa-woven pallu. Raat, for the night this saree was made for.
A Banarasi katan in jet black, weighted at the pallu with a kadhwa weave in red and silver. Kadhwa is the slowest of the Banarasi techniques: each motif is hand-woven separately rather than floated across the back of the cloth, giving the pallu its dense, tapestry-like finish.
