Black, white, and turmeric-yellow stripes in handloom silk. Haldi-pattai, after the colour of the spice and the line of its weaving.
A handloom striped silk in the modernist Banarasi mashru tradition, in black, white, and turmeric yellow. Mashru is a centuries-old technique that weaves silk on top and cotton beneath, originally so the wearer wouldn't have silk against the skin. The stripe is a weave, not a print: each colour is a separate run of thread across the loom.
